About this event
Opening a shared space of silence and community.
On the first and third Friday’s of each month we gather at the Sydney Zen Centre to practice sitting meditation (zazen), walking meditation (kinhin), and to enjoy being in the company of others who are walking (or curious about!) the Way of Zen.
This practice will provide you with the opportunity to settle deep into shared silence in the beautiful space of the Sydney Zen Centre.
Previous experience in this tradition is not required. We can provide an orientation for anyone who is new or returning to practice. Please email email@example.com
This is a free event for members of the Zen Open Circle. Dana (a donation) is requested from visitors or those who are able to contribute towards the costs of the event ($10 recommended).
See you there!
Q: Do I need to have previous experience in Zen?
A: Nope. If anything, that will probably be helpful! We can offer an orientation with basic instruction from 5:45.
Q: Do I need to be able to sit on the floor?
A: No, simple chairs can be provided. We prefer that you can be comfortable in your sitting.
Q: How long does a round of zazen (sitting meditation) last?
A: We sit for 25mins. This is followed by walking practice (about 5mins).
This is a space that aims to welcome people of all bodies, genders, sexualities, and cultural backgrounds. We sit together and bear witness to our myriad forms and lives.
